Ballisodare Men’s shed will re-open on Thursday 30th of September, and look forward to welcoming members back once again and inviting new members, (Male and Female), to come along and join us and participate in the many activities we are involved in .
We will also hold an open day at Youngs Quarry on Sat 9th October from 1pm to 3pm , where everyone will be welcome to come along, have a chat , see what we do and have a try at bowling, Who knows you might even like it!
There is no age limit regarding membership so all are welcome.
Our shed is a community-based organisation where the primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly, and inclusive environment, where members are able to gather and /or work together on meaningful projects in the company of others, where the primary objective is to advance the health and well being of the participants.
We all have skills that we can share whilst learning new ones from our colleagues.
Activities include the making of wood products and wood-turning in our new custom-built workshop. Short Matt indoor bowls in the new community centre hall, very popular, and a growing activity nationwide.
There is a walking group that takes place every Tuesday morning, if you prefer a short walk (45-60mins), or a more strenuous trek (2 hrs+) all is catered for.
Tuition in art and woodturning are ongoing in conjunction with Sligo/ Leitrim/ Mayo E.T.B. and other courses can be arranged at the request of members. We also organize day trips to places of interest and events locally and nationally, and theatre and cinema trips open to members and spouses/ partners.
Hope to see you all soon
